Chocolate Mousse with Strawberry Cream

Recipe Description

Makes 6 servings.

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp. water
  • 3 tbsp. Granulated sugar|Sugar
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) - semi-sweet chocolate|semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 4 tbsp. - crème de cacao|creme de cacao
  • 1 cup (1/2 pint) - light whipping cream|whipping cream
  • 1 package (10 ounces) - frozen sliced California strawberries in syrup, thawed

Directions

  1. In small saucepan over high heat bring water and Granulated sugar|Sugar to boil, stirring.
  2. Reduce heat; simmer 1 minute.
  3. Combine chocolate pieces and Granulated sugar|Sugar mixture in blender of food processor fitted with metal blade;
  4. Whirl until cool to room temperature.
  5. In medium bowl beat 3/4 cup of the cream to form stiff peaks.
  6. With rubber spatula fold chocolate mixture into cream, blending thoroughly.
  7. Cover and freeze until firm, at least 6 hours.
  8. In blender or food processor combine strawberries with the remaining cream and crème de cacao|creme de cacao;
  9. Whirl until smooth. Cover and chill.
  10. To serve, pour equal amounts of the strawberry sauce into 6 dessert dishes and add scoops of the chocolate mixture.
  11. Note: Mousse can be prepared a day or two in advance.
