French Onion Soup III

Very good! Easy to make.Ingredients
- 4 cups thinly sliced onions
- ½ tablespoon granulated sugar|sugar
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 4 cups beef broth
- 4 slices French bread, toasted
- ½ cup shredded Swiss cheese
- In a soup pot, cook onions, granulated sugar|sugar, and pepper in oil until caramelized (about 15-20 minutes).
- Stir often.
- Add broth; bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Ladle into ovenproof bowls.
- Top each with bread and cheese.
- Broil until cheese is bubbly.
