Alton Brown’s Valentines Chocolate Truffles

Alton Brown shares the way to make perfect homemade truffles that will wow your valentine.

Alton Brown presents a can’t-miss recipe for delicious chocolate truffles that will knock your partner’s socks (and hopefully some other articles of clothing) off.

Call it personal bias, but we usually don’t use the words “romantic” and “Alton Brown” in the same sentence. But these truffles are the perfect hand-made gift to give that special someone a happy Valentine’s Day.

This Valentine’s Day, anyone can go out and buy chocolates for their beloved. All it takes is a little time and a little coin, so why not spend a little less coin and a little more time, and present them with an assortment of lovingly hand-crafted truffles?

As per the usual, Alton Brown gives a very in-depth and scientific explanation of exactly how one is supposed to make the perfect truffle, and as always, we think you can fudge his directions a little bit here and there and still get delicious truffles. (see what we did there?) In particular, we draw the line at latex gloves; it’s just not worth it.

There are of course tons of things you can use for the outside of your truffle, since we’re all caffeine addicts here at RecipeHub, we recommend a very (and we mean very) fine ground espresso to make a rich, mocha truffle. Or try using crushed hazelnuts to make a final product that will have a flavor profile closer to Nutella. No matter what you want to do, the fact that you made these truffles with love will be what really matters. Oh, and eating them isn’t half bad either.
