Giada’s Ravioli With Balsamic Brown Butter Sauce

Giada's Ravioli With Balsamic Brown Butter Sauce

The Food Network’s Italian culinary queen dresses up store-bought ravioli with a decadent balsamic brown butter sauce.

In this installment of Everyday Italian, Giada de Laurentiis teaches us a simple sauce that will add zing to nearly everything it touches!

When I first started living on my own, ravioli was a go-to meal on weeknights. Why ravioli? Because all you need to do is boil some water, heat up some sauce, and then combine and eat!

Sadly, the sauce choices in the supermarket as limited. When you get tired of marinara or alfredo sauce, where do you turn next?

Giada de Laurentiis shows us how to pep up your store-bought ravioli with an easy-to-prepare sauce and toppings. It’s simple to prepare, yet elegant enough to share with company.

First, boil some water to cook your ravioli. Giada uses cheese, but you can use whatever you prefer. On Meatless Mondays, this sauce goes great with cheese, squash, or mushroom. On other days, meat-filled ravioli would work well too.

While your ravioli is cooking, you can prepare the sauce and toppings. Place the walnuts in the oven for approximately 10 minutes to toast. In a saucepan, melt the butter and balsamic vinegar.

Once the ravioli are done, combine them with the sauce and toss. Top the pasta with some grated Parmesan cheese and the toasted walnuts.

Giada’s combination of flavors is great, but the star of this dish is the sauce. Don’t like walnuts? Substitute hazelnuts or leave them off all together. Have tortellini on hand, but not ravioli? That’s fine too! Put together whatever you like for a tasty weeknight meal!
