Today, Ina Garten shows us how to make a big batch cocktail that is a snap to put together and will satisfy even the coldest souls.

A mulled cider is really just apple cider warmed up with a collection of wonderful spices. The addition of star anise, cinnamon, and cloves really rounds out the apple cider flavor and gives it that special fall touch.

After the cider is warmed up, Ina serves them in mugs with a splash of dark rum. If you are serving this to the under-21 set, skip this step!

Mulled Cider Ingredients:

  • 1 gallon (16 cups) pure apple juice or fresh apple cider
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 oranges, peels and juice
  • 8 whole cloves
  • 6 star anise
