Ree’s Cherry Almond Crisp

Ree Drummond bakes cherry almond crisps.

The Pioneer Woman makes a simple dessert that tastes like heaven!

Fruit crisps are a divine dessert—sweet fruit baked to perfection with a crunchy, buttery topping.

If you have a cherry tree like us, or just love cherries, you know that baking them into some type of dessert is a great and easy way to enjoy them.

Ree Drummond whips up a family favorite—Cherry Almond Crisps. The best part is that these desserts don’t take a lot of effort but they are full of flavor.

Ree uses frozen cherries for this, it is Spring and cherries are in season. Using fresh cherries would kick up the flavor … the downside being that you would have to pit each individual cherry before use.

Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with using frozen cherries. They come ready to pour out of the bag and use (and hey, they were fresh at some point!).

Making this dessert is simple. Gather all your ingredients and you just have to mix them all together. First you mix up the cherries with some sugar, cornstarch, and almond extra; place them in the ramekins or large serving dish.

Then you make the crisp topping with the remaining ingredients. Like Ree mentions, this recipe makes what seems like too much topping. But you really want to make sure you pack each ramekin full of the topping because the butter will melt away.

While the crisps on their own are great, a little dollop of fresh whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream never hurt any dessert!
