Incredibly Rich Buttermilk Candy
Recipe Description
Purchased from the Reinhart Estate in Ida, Oklahoma in 1992. Dated 1961. Notation on paper indicates this recipe is easy and very well received at cookouts.Ingredients
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups pecan, chopped
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons white Karo syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Combine buttermilk and soda.
- Pour over Granulated sugar|Sugar.
- Let stand for 5 minutes.
- Add syrup.
- Cook slowly, stirring constantly, until it forms a soft ball in water.
- Remove from heat.
- Add margarine and vanilla.
- Beat well and add pecans.
