Maandazi

Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cup flour
  • 2 Tbsp. Granulated sugar|Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • oil for frying

Directions

  1. Mix together dry ingredients and mix in egg and milk until well mixed.
  2. Roll out as for a jellyroll to about ¾" thickness.
  3. Cut using a doughnut cutter with center ring removed or a glass turned upside down.
  4. Fry in hot (365 °F) oil until golden brown.
  5. Makes about 1 dozen
