Guy Fieri’s Oktoberfest Brats

Guy Fieri makes beer braised bratwurst for Oktoberfest.

Break out the lederhosen and dirndls, it’s officially Oktoberfest season!

Beer-braised bratwurst & peppers are the perfect pairing for this royal German celebration.

While it’s no replacement for doing the Chicken Dance in Munich’s Weisn, Guy Fieri’s Oktoberfest brats will bring a piece of Germany into your home.

This recipe couldn’t be easier to make. Start by slicing up bacon, peppers, onions, and garlic and get them cooking in a pot. Once they’ve sweated out a bit, add 2 bottles of German lager and some chicken stock.

Once the braising liquid comes to a boil, reduce to a simmer and add the bratwurst sausages. Make sure to pierce them like Guy does for all that good flavor exchange.

After about 15 minutes, the brats will be braised. If you’re not going to serve them right away, I would suggest pausing the process here. If not, fire up the grill and throw the brats on there!

While the bratwursts are on the grill, prepare the peppers sauce that will top the sausages. Add whole grain mustard and butter to the braising liquid and let it thicken. When everything is done, serve it up. German tradition says you should have some pretzels, spaetzle, and a stein of beer on hand!
