Jamie Deen’s BBQ Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

Jamie Deen gives a quick, easy to make recipe for delicious bacon-wrapped shrimp

How do you make barbecued shrimp even tastier? Simple: add bacon!

Barbecued shrimp is often one of the more overlooked meats that one can throw on the grill. While they can be delicious on their own, there is a surefire way to improve any meat: wrap it in bacon. Jamie Deen’s Bacon Wrapped Shrimp recipe does just that.

The main word to remember from this whole recipe is subtlety. Shrimp have delicate enough flavor as is, and the bacon with its delicious, rich, smokiness is perfect already without any help. The guaranteed way to ruin either of those two things is to overdo it with seasoning or sauce. So whenever you’re not sure of how much you want to add, know that the answer will always be “less.”

While in the video, the shrimp only marinate for a short period of time, you can really let them marinate overnight if you want. Just make sure that the bacon doesn’t sit long before you wrap it – only for a couple of minutes at most. If you do marinate the shrimp overnight, it’s best to err on the safe side and go just a little ligthter on the garlic.

Add a little sauce while the shrimp are on the grill, but again, be conservative; it’s always better to let people add their own sauce after the fact if they really want that strong kick. Otherwise, the sauce should really just help make a nice light crust and add a little bit of heat.
